classwork/Homework
M: Biology - Today we wrapped up the information you gathered about the nervous system. You got together, compared notes, and then took a quiz. After that you got into your groups and create two new entries. On the first entry, using the right and left side, you evenly spaced out the first four "Big Ideas" for the semester: What is life made of?, Where do these materials come from?, Why is water so important to life?, and How do enzymes help sustain life? On the second entry, using both sides of the entry, you spaced out the final four "Big Idea" concepts of first semester: How do these molecules get to our cells?, How do we know what we need and don't need?, How do cells make up an organism?, and What happens inside of a cell? Your job tonight is to go through every entry you have and next to each o fthe big idea entries to list the page number of that entry. So, if you find out that entry number 25 goes with "What happens inside of a cell?, you would write the number 25 on the new entry right next to the big idea question. The last thing you need to know is that parent input is due on Wednesday, get it signed from your parent. Medical Biology - Today, other than taking a test on what you completed last week on the nervous system, you set yourself up for the review that will happen this week. You need to do the same things to prepare as my regular biology classes even though youwill have somewhat different questions. Please be prepared with your parent input as well. T: Biology - Today we started out by updating our table of contents so we can find our entries quicker when we take the second part of the final. Next we spent the rest of our day identifying the essential question and answering it on each of our entries. The entire class was dedicated to this so whatever was not done in class should be completed at home. OH, Did you get your parent input completed? Medical Biology - As above in regular Biology! W: Biology - So now we have identified each entry as to which big idea they go with. We have looked at each entry as to what the essential question is, and now I want you to use the questions you received today (they can be found below) to formulate your responses to these questions. These are the questions for the first part of the final. Come prepared to discuss anything you are unclear about, but you should be abl eto identify the entry that should answer the question at the very least. If you are one of those people who hasn't been doing the preparation I've assigned, I don't know what to say except that it's all in your hands. Medical Biology - As above. On eaddition to what is written above would be that you have a guest speaker tomorrow, Dr. Erickson. We set up out notebooks like we have with all of our guest speakers in class today, but you'll need to prepare your questions for the doctor tonight. Remember that he is an OB/GYN and this kind of doctor delivers babies! Th: Biology - I'm out again! Regardless of my absence you can do the last thing that you need to do to prepare for the upcoming final. You've identified the content of every entry on Monday. You looked at the essential question for every entry on Tuesday. yesterday you got evey question for themultiple choice portion, and sorted them by "Big Idea," and then answered those questions from sections 1-4 with illustrations, related concepts, and important quotes from your notes. Tonight you will need to do the same process for sections 5-8 of your "Big Idea" questions. If you have done all of these steps, which many of you haven't, there is literally no way that you can fail! Come prepared tomorrow to review your work and to ask any questions. Medical Biology - Today you had a guest speaker, Dr. Erikson! I would like you to respond to his presentation by writing a quick response to what he had to say; things you liked or didn't about his job, something interesting, etc. and then rewrite you top three career goals and why. All of this should go on the left side of the entry. In addition, I need you to come prepared with your responses to "Big Idea" questions 5-8. F: Biology - So today was our last day of preparation for the exam. All of the grades are in and it's time for the big show down! ...the Final exam. I'd like to once again remind you that the final will have two parts. The first part of the final you will have up to 30 minutes to finish, will be multiple choice, and you CANNOT use your notes. The second part of the final is the written portion. You will be assigned one of the eight "Big Ideas" and you will need to create a one-pager on this topic. So here's what you need to be ready on Monday (Or whenever you're coming): your computer, a notebook, colored pencils, a couple of pencils or pens, and you may want to bring a book or magazine to read as you will not be able to use your phone or computer when you finish the test. Medical Biology - Please make sure to read the above statement as it applies to your class as well. Good luck.
