classwork/Homework
M: Biology - Today we were able to do a self-assessment on ourselves to see what alleles we can pass on to our offspring. If you didn't finish this in class, please finish this up this evening. If you weren't in class, you can find a copy of the self-assessment at the bottom of last week. Medical Biology - Today you should have been matched up with someone to create a beautiful baby! If for some reason you were unable to figure it out, please do so tonight as we'll be moving on to a new topic tomorrow. A copy of the activity can be found below. T: Biology - Yesterday you did a self assessment on yourself as to your phenotype and genotype. that information was used today to create a baby with a partner! If you weren't here you can't really do it until you get back, but this is worth and EASY 3 points so don't blow it off. Remember the instructions are below and when you are done you should have the genotype, phenotype, color drawing of your baby and the child's name and prospective career. Just read the instructions. Medical Biology - Today I hope you had a chance to share your crazy babies with each other. I will collect these up when I return tomorrow. You should have your child's geno and phenotype, a colored drawing of them, and the career prospects. One submission per partnership is all I need. Next, I needed you to look at the 9 strange sentences that I have posted below on the document called A Sad Tale of Animals and People. On the right hand side of a new entry I want you to record them in the order that they make the most sense. Number 1 would be the sentences that makes the most sense and number 9 makes the least. Read the sheet instructions. On the left hand side I want you to give me a detailed description of reasons why they belong in this order. Well, like I said, read the instructions. W: Biology - Today was really just a catch up day. A day for me to make sure we're still on the right path. Yes, it's because I was really sick. No homework tonight. Medical Biology - See above. Th: Biology - Today we had a chance to see your babies! Now that we're done with that, I have a puzzle for you. You can find it posted below and is called, "A Sad Tale of Animals and People." On the right hand on your new entry today you should have each of these sentences listed on the right hand side. On the left hand side you should have a description of why the order you placed them in makes the most sense. Medical Biology - We looked a bit at your ordering of the 9 sentences in the Sad Tale of People and Animals, and your reasoning today. I know you are a bit perplexed by it, but just hang tight. In order for the "light bulb" to come on I need us to take a walk back to the first days of this class when we were just learning about four macromolecules. Please review your notes if you need, but mostly I want you to know that if some it seems foggy, you can go back. Complete the structure of DNA activity sheets in preparation for tomorrow. F: Biology - Today we looked at the weird sentences from yesterday and started to look at what exactly was your logic in sorting them the way you did. Later we looked at our new Big Idea, "How exactly does DNA give us our traits?" In order to connect these two seemly discrepant concepts we need to know a bit more about the structure of DNA. This is why you started the POGIL on DNA structure. This can be found below if you weren't in class. Medical Biology - Today we continued to explore how the structure of DNA can lend itself to coding for proteins. This was done by setting up a grid on the irght side of a new entry where the X-Axis was labelled "What Happens? - SubUnits Used - Where it happens? - End Product" and then the Y-Axis being labelled, "DNA Replication, Transcription, and Translation" and then filling in the cross sections using the following website. Easy. ...http://sepuplhs.org/high/sgi/teachers/genetics_act16_sim.html
